The God Father of Jiu-Jitsu

I receive calls or emails on a daily basis asking for information about Hendo BJJ.  “Tell me about Hendo BJJ!”

First thing I tell them, if they don’t already know is that BJJ is a martial art that relies on body leverage, timing and acquired techniques….over size, speed, strength or athleticism.

This opens the door for ANYONE with time and practice, to become proficient in BJJ and in protecting themselves in dangerous situations.

Examples of how BJJ can Help you!

  • A female can resist and escape from a dangerous situation or male aggressor
  • A child at school can fend off or neutralize a bully
  • Men and Women can protect themselves and their families

Like it or not, in our society, often times we don’t want to fight or have problems….but the fight comes to us!, and The fight comes in a big hurry, so we must be prepared.  BJJ at HendoBJJ will indeed get you and your family prepared.

How do I personally, teach Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu?

So you will know:  I teach men women and children Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu from a set 13-16 week curriculum formats that I rotate through 3-4 times per year.

Each 13-16  week curriculum is building off of the Hierarchy of Positions in Jiu-Jitsu, and will always build on to the previous studied curriculums.

With that said  me and my instructors are very organized and detailed with the information and techniques that we are sharing.

This style of teaching and degree of thoroughness allows for all levels to train in the same classes.  We simply ‘feather’ the new student into our program.

As we go through this curriculum throughout the year, the students are learning, over time virtually hundreds of BJJ situations and techniques. Essentially building their own BJJ tool box.

As your instructor, I am also learning about my students, and then I teach to each person’s strengths in how they learn.

To be an effective teacher I must know, and will identify over the first few lessons are this:

Are they right brain or left brain thinkers?

How do I know?

How do I appeal to them?

What makes them tick?

What health issues or limitations do they have?

How do I effectively teach any given person?

How do I do this with 10, 20, 30 people on the mat?

I also determine:

Are they primarily an auditory learner, a visual learner or a kinesthetic learner?  I determine what combination of learning styles that they best learn with?

It’s NOT just about showing a group of techniques and sparring to “figure it out”….It’s teaching to various learning groups across the board in the entire class. This is taught in a manner they can all learn from, and be able to deliver results, when under the pressure of a potential fight, bullying situation, or sexual assault.

I am totally committed to my students improvement on the mats as well as off the mats.

People who stick with learning BJJ will truly improve in many areas of their life with: Self-confidence, a sense of well being, getting or staying physically fit, motivated, focus, dedicated to success, knowing what they want, and getting after it!

I hope this gives you a quick snap shot of who we are and what we do at JaxBJJ.  My door is always open. (Lol, I don’t have a door!)

Call or email me and come on out and try a few free classes, and determine if BJJ is indeed for you, and/or your other family members.
