The Hendersonville "Stand Firm" Initiative

A monthly gathering for teens aged 12-17, offering a supportive environment to connect with Jesus, learn self-defense techniques, and confidently handle crisis situations.

The heartbreaking truth is that 1 in 5 children are being bullied today. That is what is reported, and we believe the number is higher when physical, emotional, and cyberbullying are combined. We are dedicating a good portion of our time and money to hold people accountable and also to provide our kid's options to distance themselves from their tormentors, as well as build a game plan if the agitator will not stop the harassment.

The “Stand Firm” Initiative is a grassroots project that bypasses the standard “do nothing” responses that concerned parents of those kids being bullied are receiving from their Teachers, Schools, Principals, School Boards, and in Church groups. It will never stop, but we can make a considerable dent here in Hendersonville and plan to do just that.

As a father of 3 children who have been unmercifully bullied, I am prepared to step up and DO something for these kids. There is a ‘heart problem’ in our society which leads to a myriad of poor behaviors, of which one is bullying others to build themselves up.

The bottom line is that we envision a 1-time per month event (or more often if needed) that will provide a safe place for like-minded individuals to lean into Jesus, lean into a self-defense strategy, and be able to ‘stand firm’ in crisis situations.

Event Details:

This event will be held at Hendo BJJ, next door to the All About Fitness gym. Please wear comfortable shorts or pants (no skirts or dresses). Refreshments will be provided, but feel free to bring water.
